Tiles

This luxurious kitchen features large porcelain stoneware slim tiles from the Vanity collection on the wall, floor and countertop. The tiles are just 6.5mm thick and also offer antimicrobial protection.

Slim tiles are named for their extremely thin profiles of just 3.5mm to 6.5mm, and come in huge slab sizes of up to 100cm by 300cm. Their proportions might be extreme, but these porcelain stoneware slim tiles are amazingly strong and durable materials. Their thinness makes them easy to cut and install, and as such they are perfect candidates for overlaying existing flooring or wall materials. By overlaying, you avoid having to hack off existing materials which saves time, money and reduces noise and disruption.

With such large sizes, joint lines are reduced and spaces look larger, more spacious and elegant. Being thin has also upped its versatility of use not just for walls and floors, but on furniture such as table- and counter-tops, even cabinet doors! With a large array of designs to choose from such as luxurious marble-inspired patterns, the tiles can also act as art pieces to be framed up, or statement feature walls in a corporate or home environment.

You only need to visit riceLAB to see how impressive slim tiles can look. Before you make an appointment with us, preview our collections below and discover the versatility and potential of this material.

Slim tiles on walls and floors

The Starlight Calacatta Supreme Gloss slim tiles on the floor seamlessly connects the space between the bedroom and bathroom. The same tile in the Smooth finish continues the luxurious pattern on the walls and washbasin pedestals. The large marble-inspired slabs of 100cm by 300cm used on the walls provide uninterrupted veining patterns that project the realism of natural marble.

The Starlight collection presents eight of the finest marble patterns as marble-inspired tiles, including elegant travertine, as seen in the Travertino Class Smooth tile featured on the floor and walls of this luxury fashion boutique. At only 3.5mm thick, the slim tiles clad the pillars with the 100cm by 300cm slab showcasing the beauty of travertine with its long stratified grains.

The large 120cm by 240cm tile size of the Mutina Primavera collection and its subtle pattern of small ceramic inserts make surfaces look seamless. Designed by Barber and Osgerby, Primavera comes in five base colours including Blu (pictured left) and Bianco (pictured right), in four sizes and in a thickness of 6mm.

The Mutina Folded collection by Raw Edges, which captures the organic impressions made by folding paper on tile surfaces, has been made available in a larger size of 100cm by 300cm, called Folded XL. The new size creates fewer joint lines and its 5.6mm thickness enhances the tiles’ versatility for applications both indoors and outdoors.

Slim tiles from the metal-inspired Blade collection let homeowners enjoy the look of weathered metal in wet areas. The bonus is the large tile size which deliver their designs in full scale. On the wall, the Essence Naturale tile in a 100cm by 300cm size presents the oxidised look of copper with its greenish metallic sheen. On the floor is the Oxide Naturale slim tile with its silvery white hue.

Slim tiles on a building facade

The thinness of slim tiles makes them easy to be cut and applied onto large surfaces, such as building facades. Besides being able to weather the elements with their toughness and resistance to water, the Blade slim tiles pictured on the house above also provide a beautiful skin of ‘oxidised’ metal. This ‘oxidisation’ is kept in check though, unlike using real metal plates. The Blade collection of slim tiles feature attractive metal oxidisation effects that retain and reflect light, and are a mere 3.5mm thickness.

Slim tiles as an art piece

A special polishing method gives the Vanity marble-inspired glossy slim tiles a radiance that fills the room with light. Pictured above, a chain of five Vanity Macchia Vecchia Glossy Chain tiles in a continuous pattern is treated like a piece of art set into a frame. Each tile measures 120cm by 260cm, and is 6.5mm thick. The immense span of the pattern is impressive and is able to counter the many challenges of installing natural marble slabs.

Slim tiles on furniture

At a size of 100cm by 300cm, a single Blade Essence Naturale slim tile serves as the surface of the table top above. Its coppery oxidised hue and patterning has created a unique piece of furniture with an industrial edge. The flooring is also composed of Blade tiles, but in a 100cm by 100cm size in Chrome Naturale. Both tiles are 3.5mm thick.

The large tile size of 120cm by 240cm, and 6mm thickness of the Mutina Primavera tiles means they can clad surfaces to create chic furniture items as well, such as this countertop. The lack of joint lines on the surfaces makes the item look like one solid piece of cast concrete.

The mirror-polished finish on the 3.5mm thick Starlight Corchia Arabesque Glossy tiles on the floor and walls of this dining room reflect light and space for a ambience of luxurious spaciousness. The table is clad in Starlight Carnico Grey Smooth slim tile, with a slab size of 100cm by 300cm on the table top to mimic a solid stone slab.
