Exciting new ways to use woodgrains – with these latest timber-inspired tiles!
Tiles

The Everyday timber-inspired tiles in light Taupe have wonderful versatility. In this space, they are laid on the floor in a herringbone pattern. On the wall are Energize modules which use blue grouting to showcase its etched lines.

Thanks to their durability, easy maintenance and amazing realism, timber-inspired tiles are now commonly used everywhere as an excellent alternative to natural timber. Now that timber-inspired tiles can easily replicate the organic colouration and even texture of wood, tile companies are conceptualising decorative timber-look products that are not possible or extremely challenging with wood. The results are exciting – just look at these tile collections that just arrived at riceLAB!

Everyday

The Everyday collection includes plank-shaped timber-inspired tiles in four sizes, of which the 10cm by 60cm size is great for herringbone layouts.

What’s different

The Energize modules of 20cm by 120cm are engraved with long parallel cuts of about 2mm deep and wide that are meant to be grouted. There are three patterns of etched lines available. Coloured grouting such as red or blue is recommended to highlight the etched design of the tiles and to contrast with the oak grains available in Brown, Honey, Taupe and White. Use the tiles for both floor and walls, indoors and outdoors!

The additional decorative option is the Connect 60cm by 120cm tile that sports a rich graphic collage of the four woodgrain colours in various shapes, giving it a modern-retro appeal. The 12 patterns of Connect can be randomly placed to create a patchwork mural much like a wallcovering.

Cocoon

The knots, veins and nuances of Slavonian oak gave rise to the elegant Cocoon collection of tiles, available in a variety of shapes including chevrons, in various sizes and in five colours. The standard plank-shape tile comes in a size of 20cm by 120cm.

What’s different

Similar to the chevron shape which features slanted instead of straight plank ends, the Arch variant instead has a slanted curve at both ends of the 20cm by 120cm tile. Available as a set of planks which curve to the left, and right, the Arch tiles introduce exciting new graphics that have never been seen before in the context of timber strip layout patterns.

Stave is another set of decorative options that includes a 30cm by 120cm tile etched into eight equal parallel segments, and a 20cm by 120cm 3D version for increased definition. Great for feature walls and panelling!

Mindwalk

The timber-inspired tile element in the Mindwalk collection might be minimal, seen in the gaps between the tile ‘fragments’, but this is what makes them stand out against their stone-inspired backgrounds.

What’s different

In the traditional oriental art of kintsugi, fracture lines on a piece of ceramic are repaired with gold seams. In the Mindwalk collection, fractures are filled instead with seams of woodgrain inspired by Arke wood approximating the look of the precious metal. Their golden hue contrasts with the stone background, highlighting the shapes of the ‘broken’ pieces within. Each tile is also framed by woodgrain, completing the illusion when the tiles are installed side by side of a complete ‘kintsugi-ed’ surface. These tiles are available in two sizes of 120cm by 120cm, and 60cm by 120cm, and in four colours. You can use Mindwalk both indoors and outdoors, with tiles also available in 20mm-thickness.
