Cotto d’Este Vanity

We love looking at bestseller lists to see what other people are reading, wearing, and buying in general. They give us an idea of what’s popular and in-trend. Similarly we would like to introduce the latest tile collections which have proven to be a hit with RICE customers! Read on to discover the reasons that have put them squarely on our best-selling list. It might inspire you to put them in your own home, too!

Appiani Lapis – Stone-inspired mosaics

Mosaic specialist Appiani has wowed us with mosaics in a kaleidoscope of intense colours. Their new stone-inspired Lapis collection translates the beauty of natural stone into mosaics that give indoor and outdoor areas pleasing organic hues and tactility. Their porcelain stoneware material is fired at high temperatures to ensure great resistance to wear with low water absorption, and the Bio Shield+ finish arms the surface with permanent anti-bacterial protection. The mosaics are available in nine colours of cool grey, warm grey, and reddish terracotta tones, as well as in sizes of 1.2cm by 1.2cm, and 2.5cm by 2.5cm, on a 30cm by 30cm mesh.

Why it’s so popular: The stone-inspired Appiani Lapis mosaic modernises typical stone surfaces and gives new dimension to the classic elegance of the timeless material.

Cotto d’Este Vanity – Marble-inspired tiles

The strong radiant beauty of the Cotto d’Este Vanity marble-inspired collection is best represented in the new Macchia Vecchia colour, which features gold spiderweb streaks across a creamy white background.  Vanity also has huge slab sizes to match, with sizes of 120cm by 260cm, 120cm by 120cm, and 60cm by 120cm to minimise joint lines. The large format slim tiles, just 6.5mm-thick, are made of quality porcelain stoneware reinforced with fibreglass, and come in a matte and glossy finish, both with Panaria Protect’s anti-bacterial properties. A beautiful bookmatched diptych, and a continuous design set across five panels add to the options.

Why it’s so popular: The allure of the luxurious design, especially in a glossy bookmatched format, is hard to resist. Plus the marble-inspired tile is much easier to care for and is more durable than the natural material.

Mutina Punto – Decorative tiles

The simple design of either big raised dots (Up) or big sunken dots (Down) of Mutina Punto, when repeated across a large surface, creates attractive results. The pattern presents itself best when the light hits, especially with the deep colours in a glossy finish. The matte finish, on the other hand, exudes clean Modernist style. An evolved version of the Pico collection by the Bouroullec brothers, Punto is available in five colours of white, grey, red, green and blue. Each strip is 4cm by 31.5cm, with five strips on one mesh.

Why it’s so popular: Punto provides a simple modern design that works well in all parts of the home and outdoors, for those who want subtle texture on their walls.

Panaria Via Maestra – Stone-inspired tiles

The Panaria Via Maestra stone-inspired tile collection combines the best features of various stones to create amalgamated but still unique patterns. The subtle designs boast versatility of use in both indoor and outdoor environments, and can bridge both spaces without interruption. Two finishes, Naturale (for indoors) and Strutturato (for outdoors) are available, in five sizes and four hues, ranging from light to mid-tones of grey. With Panaria Protect, the tiles also eliminate up to 99.9% of bacteria on their surfaces.

Why it’s so popular: This is perfect for when you can’t decide which type of stone design to go for. The gentle harmonious pattern and neutral hues also help create a canvas that can go with various looks.

Ragno Gleeze – Decorative tiles

Turn your walls into works of art with the tiles of Ragno Gleeze. They carry the mark of artisan craftmanship, with unique qualities and imperfections that pay tribute to handmade ceramics. With their ultra-glossy surfaces shimmering in the light, Gleeze imparts a breezy mood to spaces. Gleeze comprises five unique designs – a square tile, subway tiles in two sizes, and two tiles with three-dimensional elliptical shapes. All available in five colours with rich tonal variations.

Why it’s so popular: Delightfully unconventional, Gleeze tiles express a handcrafted aesthetic that makes us think of artisan ceramics. With the interplay of light on the surface, the effect is mesmerising and great for a feature wall.
