2. Mirage - NAGOMI collection
Mirage’s Nagomi, which symbolizes balance and serenity in Japanese, celebrates a reflective design, aimed towards curating spaces that harmoniously complement & coexist with their environmental context. It reflects their firm belief that sustainable innovation can enrich our living spaces while preserving the harmony, nature and purity of shapes. By incorporating a significant percentage of glass derived from the recycling of cathode ray tubes from monitors and television screens into their Nagomi collection, Mirage pays homage to a narrative of sustainability that intertwines the past, present, and future.
This project was inspired by the team’s resolution to combine aesthetics and environmental responsibility, it was a dream achieved with a special collaboration with the renowned architect and designer, Mr Hadi Teherani. The true beauty and essence of Nagomi lie in its uniqueness. Each piece has its distinct personality, making it a decorative element that encompasses a mixture of cultural identities from Japan, while perfectly balancing artisanal authenticity with efficiency of modern production processes. And living up to its name, breathing a sense of peacefulness in any space.
Nagomi comes with 5 design variants with their respective colour choices, namely Ami (Crayon, Sand, Fog, Soot, Basalt, Pale), Kazuki (Crayon, Sand, Fog, Soot, Basalt, Greenish, Mix), Miyu (Crayon, Sand, Fog, Soot, Basalt, Dove, Mix), Riku (Crayon, Sand, Fog, Soot, Basalt, Red Earth, Pale, Mix), and Sabi (Crayon, Sand, Fog, Soot, Basalt, Dove, Red Earth). Osso & Bottone is the first in Mutina’s various collections, intended explicitly for outdoor environments but works perfectly for indoor use too. Ronan Bouroullec’s design represents a significant innovation in ceramic usage and versatility. This idea stems from traditional materials historically used for laying outdoor floorings. The names were derived from the shapes they showcased, inspired by the slightly contoured configuration of the collection’s pieces.
Ronan Bouroullec was personally involved with curating these ceramic elements with a symbolic gesture, by “cutting” the traditional rectangles and breathing life into unique forms. Thanks to the outstanding elements of light and shadow, these curated ceramic shapes help to accommodate the stucco with its “missing parts”, and to construct vibrant geometries that make up a dynamic composition. This results in an optical dimension, allowing the initial configurations to be blurred and opening a special dialogue between Osso & Bottone and the realm of nature we face.
The collection consists of Osso & Bottone modules, both are made from unglazed porcelain stoneware, with a full-body coloured mixture and designed with a thickness of 10mm. It’s available in a variety of 5 colours - Sabbia (Sand), Rosso (Red), Verde (Green), Blu (Blue), and Grigio (Gray). Osso comes in S & L options, each measuring 3 x 27.5 cm and 7.5 x 23.1 cm, and similarly, Bottone comes in S & L options, with them measuring 3 x 27.5 cm and 7.5 x 32.1 cm respectively.
