Artist impression of The Commodore

The recently launched The Commodore condominium infers authority and status thanks to its dignified salutation. Located in the historical area of Canberra, known as the location of the colonial-era Sembawang Naval Base, the 219-unit The Commodore is developed by JBE Holdings and designed by M.A.N Architects LLP. Its glass towers boast shimmering modernity while the estate grounds promise sumptuous landscaping and a multitude of modern wellness and lifestyle facilities. In keeping with its upscale image, the showflat of the development is dressed with a rich tapestry of materials for a look of modern luxury. RICE is honoured to have our tiles chosen to be part of its refined interiors. Let’s step into the space and explore the tiles used!

First impressions count, and so the stage for luxury is set from the entrance of the showflat. The foyer features the marble-inspired Supreme collection tiles in Charcoal Nat on the floor, its dramatic streaks expressing the organic beauty of marble. The large tile size of 60cm by 120cm lends a feeling of spaciousness. The dark timber-clad walls of the foyer lends the space a cosy and intimate feel, while items on the display shelves provide a hint of the occupant’s personal style.

The darker tones of the hallway flooring segue into a brighter and warmer hue that flows throughout the living, kitchen and dining areas. In these areas, Beige Nat tiles from the same Supreme marble-inspired tile collection are used for flooring, their lighter tones creating more contrast with the golden hues of the timber-clad walls. The impressive double volume ceiling injects elements of grandeur and drama.

The timber-inspired tiles of the Woodcraft collection on the balcony floor zone the outdoor space. This collection features a high degree of shade variation in its five colours, of which the contemporary Antracite hue was chosen for the showflat. The 10cm by 70cm tile planks are laid like timber strips to provide the reassuring familiarity of timber flooring. Using tiles in the outdoor area ensures easier maintenance and greater durability in our harsh tropical weather.

The showflat’s bathrooms are well-tailored spaces, with their minimalist style and wall tiles in shades of grey. Travertine-inspired tiles that show off the stone’s trademark stratified layers clad the walls and give the space visual texture for a cosier feel.
