The Scandinavian-Japanese hybrid style called Japandi still tops the popularity charts. This loft apartment by The Monocot Studio is a picture of hygge with its natural timber tones, medley of material textures and mid-century Modern furniture. The flooring of RICE tiles pulls the look together with its neutral hue.
We were all captivated by the exuberant interiors created by the Mutina Margherita Matonelle tiles by Nathalie Du Pasquier. The 27 different designs in the collection sport bold colours and patterns drawn with thick lines that transform the look of walls and floors when you combine them in infinite ways.
As they say – less is more, and this bathroom designed by The Design Abode is a perfect example of great style with simplicity. This Modernist look is created with a monochrome palette, use of basic materials such as white tiles with black grouting, and old-school terrazzo-inspired tiles from RICE, as well as sanitaryware with clean crisp profiles for a contemporary look.
Dark but not dim on style, this bathroom by Maer Atelier delights with its dark colour palette including black marble-inspired tiles on the floor from RICE. The shine of the mirror, reflective sliding door and gold-coloured washbasin expands the dimensions of the space while accent lighting provides the drama.
New colours and glossy finishes for Tokujin Yoshioka’s Phenomenon collection for Mutina were announced this year and it got your stamp of approval! Phenomenon’s five nature-inspired designs of Honeycomb, Rain, Rock, Air and Wind in a neutral-coloured palette such as white and grey are now joined by dusty hues of rose, blue and green. Also available for the first time are glossy finishes in new metallic colours!
This home by Studio Forty Four is a lesson in how to use colour in a fresh unexpected way. The Mutina Lane tiles in various colour palettes are used in different spaces of the home, such as the kitchen and bathroom, as a common visual language. Designed by Barber & Osgerby, the tiles feature pops of playful randomised colour.
New at RICE, the Oudh timber-inspired collection got your attention with its harmonious grains and warm natural tones. Available in seven colours, three finishes and four sizes, the collection appeals to our increasing preference for natural elements in the home to create cosy comfort.
9. A debut tile collection that fulfils grand architectural ambitions
In Kosei, his debut collection for Mutina, architect Vincent van Duysen conceived a series of tiles in eight formats and five colours that have complete modularity with each other. The elegant matte surfaces were inspired by the hard homogeneous qualities of lava rocks and would be perfectly aligned with Modernist architectural visions.
