Tiles

The Cocoon timber-inspired tiles sport curved ends to give a new look to wood flooring.

Cocoon – Curved timber-inspired tiles

The Cocoon collection of timber-inspired tiles includes a novel twist on the usual straight-sided ones. The Arch tiles are 20cm by 120cm pieces that have curved instead of straight-cut ends, a small change which brings about never-seen-before new looks for timber flooring when installed in various ways. The tiles, concave on one end and convex on the other, are available as mirror images and in five pleasing natural hues ranging from light to dark. Cocoon is inspired by Slavonian oak, which brings natural comfort to the home with its harmonious woodgrains and knots.

Mutina Botanica – Bio-philic design tiles

Bring nature into the home, not with plants, but with the Mutina Botanica tiles by designer Tokujin Yoshioka. The organically-shaped tiles are named Seed and Flower after their source of inspiration, and are sold with a base netting. Use contrasting grouting to emphasise their biophilic shapes or deliver a soothing continuous surface with grout in hues close to their available colours of grey and white. Botanica is available in glossy as well as in a matte wax-coated finishing.

Mist – Mosaic disrupted

Looking for something different to the usual neat and tidy mosaic grids? Mist provides an avant garde alternative with its modular mosaic of float glass rectangular chips in three different sizes and two different joint dimensions on a 30cm by 32cm glass fibre mesh. Industrial designer Kensaku Oshiro conceptualised Mist as a new way to perceive mosaic by disrupting its visual order with long interlocking pieces that still promise seamless continuity on the surface. Mist can be placed vertically or horizontally, and is available in six colours of Snow, Frost, Peach, Paprika, Avio and Pepper.

Oudh – Interlocking jigsaw-shaped tiles

With its organic interlocking shape, the Ubud design of the Oudh timber-inspired tile collection is similar to that of a piece in a jigsaw puzzle. The effect of the repeated S-shaped pattern is fascinating when the installation is complete. This outstanding decorative effect is only possible with tiles, as using natural timber to create the same design would be expensive and unsustainable due to material wastage. Each Ubud module is 18cm by 58.5cm, and is a decor option in the Oudh collection which includes tiles in six sizes and seven natural colours with options for outdoor use too.

Sixty – The humble hexagon

Hexagons were one of the first tile shapes that broke out of the four-straight-sides typology of tiles. This honeycomb-inspired shape has since been popular for its versatility and looks. In the Sixty tile collection that celebrates the rustic and basic properties of bare earth, hexagon-shaped tiles are available in plain as well as a decorative embossed Timbro pattern. They come in eight gorgeous matte colours to mix and match with the other tile shapes and finishes of this massive collection.
